How we keep this safe
Most filters work by hiding things after they arrive. Korsyl does not send them in the first place.
Age groups
Every account belongs to one group, worked out from a date of birth.

Groups do not stack. An adult account cannot browse the youngest index any more than a child can browse the oldest one. Each account sees its own slice and nothing else.
Why 15 and 17 are separate
15 is where information about puberty, bodies and sexual health opens up. 17 is a step further: someone that age working out who they are can read about identity, orientation and relationships. What they still cannot reach is the interactive side - dating, hookups, adult services. Reading about something is not the same act as taking part in it, and we treat those as two different questions about the same subject.
These boundaries follow Swedish law and apply to every user wherever they are. There is no way for anyone, including a parent, to move a child past them early.
Every link is checked by a person
Our crawlers find pages, read how a page describes itself, and guess at a category. That guess decides nothing. A person looks at every link before it is published to any age group.
This matters because a website writes its own description. A page can claim to be a children's cartoon site in its own tags. We treat those tags as a claim to be checked, never as proof - with one exception. If a page describes itself as adult, we believe it and remove it, because that is not the kind of thing anyone lies about in that direction.
What parents see
Parents do not get a list of their children's searches. They are told when a search matches an alert word, and nothing more. Searches about sex education, puberty, periods or sexual identity are deliberately not alert words: those are questions a teenager is entitled to ask privately, and the age groups already control what comes back.
Where a search suggests someone might be in real trouble, we put help on the screen for the person searching, straight away - not just a note to somebody else.
If you run a website
If we blocked your site or put it in the wrong place, you can appeal. We write down a reason for every decision, and you are entitled to be told what it was.
